I was placed on two very sedating medicines beginning in August with the rationale that I needed to sleep better and preserve sleep. I was placed on an aggressive regimen of olanzapine and lithium for six months. I guess I tapered down on lithium. With the olanzapine, I was told that I can periodically use to assist with sleep. The reality was the lithium and olanzapine completely destroyed my ability to sleep naturally. What's more nothing I have learned later suggests that you drop from 5 mg to nothing in tandem with dropping lithium. When that inevitably didn't work, I was told to go back on the regimen. Great overall experience. She has assisted me to address my health issues with a multifaceted approach including but not limited to behavioral therapy and medication. She is very knowledgeable and listens intently.
