The Slate Hotel has an ownership problem that needs to be remedied by Marriott. 3 Days prior to my arrival I double checked my reservation to make sure everything was set only to find that the reservation had been cancelled the day before. Called to find out what happened It turns out the hotel itself cancelled the reservation because they overbooked. They then hung up on us. When we tried to call back they refused to answer our calls. I’m sorry, but I cannot recommend this hotel. I’ve stayed at Sonder in New York before, and that experience was much better. For the price I paid here—about $700 for two nights—you can definitely find a better hotel. The AC is locked at 21°C and cannot be lowered, while the fan is set to auto and turns on every 45 minutes, which was uncomfortable. We booked this hotel for a concert due to its close proximity to the Roger’s centre. We booked a cheaper room, but the morning of the concert we got an email that we had been upgraded to a suite. This was such a nice surprise for us to enjoy. We also had an issue with our payment card, which the support team fixed almost instantly for us. I highly recommend staying here. The rooms are beautiful and comfortable and the support team are wonderful
The Slate Hotel in Toronto, a Sonder Property and Marriott partner, totally destroyed our planned trip. Three couples reserved rooms at the Sonder Slate Hotel three months in advance. That’s 90 days. We also booked airfare, rented a van, purchased $1,500 worth of MLB tickets, and pre-purchased tickets to a show for another $200.
