The absolute worst!!! – It was horrible. The waitress acted as if she was doing me a favor by serving me. She seemed preoccupied--although I couldn't figure out why--there weren't many diners there. The food was mediocre at best and was served at room temperature. No attempt at making this a pleasant experience for me, the customer. I plan on continuing to take the advice of another reviewer and continue to patronize PEACHES on Lewis Avenue between Macon and Decatur Streets.
Please BEWARE! – Picture it...3:50 PM on a warm Saturday Afternoon. Myself and my friends, one of whom came all the way from TEXAS to hang with us, arrive at Solomon's Porch. According to the Solomon's Porch website they serve brunch until 5:00 PM. So we arrive, ready for what we believe will be a tasty, fun afternoon with friends. "We're no longer serving brunch" huffs our service as she hastily places dinner menus in front of us and disappears. When she finally does resurface and we ask her what time do they stop serving b... read more
Will not return to Solomon's Porch – Being a long time resident of Bed-Stuy I decided to check out Solomon's Porch one evening for take out. When I got home and opened the food which took nearly 45 minutes to make I was utterly disappointed. The calamari I ordered was fried so hard that it was barely edible. The fried chicken was also fried hard and it was extremely dry, the collard greens were equivalent to eating dry discolored leaves. I was so disappointed that I contacted the restaurant to voice my issues. I was told to ... read more
never come hungry – Though I'm really glad to have a restaurant in BedStuy, this place feels like a waste of space. On several occasions when dining in, it took 10 minutes for someone to bring water, another 10 for them to come back and take my order and at least 45 for the prepared food to actually arrive. I wasn't overly hungry when I came in, but I was ravenous by the time the food came. Every time I attempt to eat there, a couple menu items are not available (once, I asked for a turkey burger 3 days straight only to find... read more
very unique and flavorful food – The food at solomons porch is pretty pretty damn good, if you ask me! When I first moved to brooklyn 3 years ago, it was the first place in my neighborhood I went for a sit down dinner. I would continue to go back every other weekend or so and make sure to try everything on the menu, everything but the shellfished items cause unfortunatley I am allergic. My favorite of all is the spinach and goat cheese salad. WOW! you can also bring your own bottle....live music, good food, hot date, and a b... read more
Best Soul Brunch & Dinner in Bed-Stuy Brooklyn – Who knew that I could find a great brunch spot right in my neighborhood. The salmon croquet are so light and savory. Their omelettes are really really good. I also had strawberry pancakes and they were so fluffy and not messy or mushy. I enjoyed tall glass of iced latte. The place is very homey on the weekend morning and afternoons- you could bring your NY Times and just relax. They even have outdoor seating- it's a really cool find in Bed-Stuy. I didn't expect that level of q... read more
Disgusting food – The service is good which is a plus but the food is awful! Everytime that I pass I see people inside who seem to be enjoying their meal so I decided to try it...big mistake! I guess the customers were not used to superb menus because I did not enjoy anything that I ate, especially the dessert. YUCK!
Nice spot for brunch, quiet dinner - avoid jazz nights – Food here can be touch and go - though the salmon croquettes, soups and burgers are always a safe, delicious bet. Avoid the cakes which are not made on site. Friendly, if a little self-concious, service - jazz nights are a little too loud for a comfortable dining experience, tho' the new presence of beer and wine could make for a chill hang out time on those nights in leiu of dinner.
