I do sympathize with this cause as I had alcohol issues myself. One of the guys came to our house and I politely told him I would review the literature and check its validity, and I have a general rule to not just hand cash to people at the door. Sobriety Center offers an experiential approach in resolving a person’s substance abuse needs, and whoever falls in that range of influence. I myself, not under substance abuse, have been offering my volunteer services on and off for over 10 years now, as a D2D canvasser and believe in paying it forward to help children, the elderly and those in society who are most often forgotten and neglected.
I wish there were an option to provide a negative rating. A representative from this organization came to my door while I was occupied with something important. I politely informed him that I would review their website and consider how much I could contribute. However, he appeared dissatisfied with my response and left immediately, making inappropriate and offensive remarks. This experience has completely deterred me from supporting this organization in any way.
The guy knocked at my door wearing the badge from your association. I gave him 20$ and asked for 15$ back he said he has no change. Never gave me receipt. I gave the donation to the cause not for some grown man to enjoy drinks. This is sickening if it’s true that they at scamming.
Please show compassion to people struggling with addiction. Every day sober is a win. Kindness and a quarter is enough for most of them. Those door-to door folks are trying, whether you believe that or not. They do not mean harm, but may behave poorly at times.
