I have been supporting their efforts for years. They are a vital local charity that consistently provides help to those who need it. They do alot of fundraising by going door to door...which a good personalized approach. Keep up the good work!
Like others here I have had the same man come to our door on different occasions. He starts out with a bit of attitude and doesn't get better if you dont donate. He's really a bit rude and I'd love for him to not return. I have him on Friday recorded on our doorbell camera dropping F-bombs and complaining about being ignored ....we were not in fact home at the time. We dont donate at the door usually and certainly wouldnt to this individual who approaches with a huge chip on his shoulder off the bat.
The staff here are exceptional—knowledgeable, patient, and genuinely invested in every person’s success. The counsellors helped me unpack years of trauma in a safe way, the medical team managed detox smoothly with real care for comfort, and the peer support groups created a sense of community I hadn’t felt in a long time.
I do sympathize with this cause as I had alcohol issues myself. One of the guys came to our house and I politely told him I would review the literature and check its validity, and I have a general rule to not just hand cash to people at the door. He went on a tirade basically calling me foolish and that I should trust door to door people and that there are no door to door fraudsters, then went on a rant about the Catholic Church (and to be honest at that point I had checked out), then he stormed off. Very helpful service to the community. Sobriety Centre is a very important part for people who are struggling with mental illness. I am grateful to have the support. Whenever I seek counselling they’re always there.
