From age 16 to 23, the "John's" taught me the value of hard work as I mowed the lawn, washed dishes, made pizzas and ran the ovens. With the opening of their delivery location, I even had a chance to be the shift manager for a few years. Great food. Great Staff. Great place to work from high school through college. Thank you for being awesome!
I was born in 1963 lived next to the Mobile station my entire childhood graduated in 81 love the small town we HAD. The Smiths were such great neighbors and beloved by all. The place has become the last roost for the birds to flock to while"home" others just our version of CHEERS in small town USA No anger just sadness to see our place go down. ..such an icon against a BIGGER IS BETTER world. Smittys has been part of my whole life. Gert & Frank gave me a job when I was 24 yrs. old as a single mother, and I worked there for 13 yrs. while keeping me on my feet with a young child to raise at home. This place has been responsible for keeping hundreds of workers employed over the last 50 yrs. The pizza has always remained consistently excellent. Our attendance lately has been more frequent knowing there would soon be an end to Smittys. Where do we go now for our weekly outings?????
I worked at Smittly's when I was 15 years old. I made pizzas, cooked and then waitresses and bartender when I was old enough. Gert and Frank were like family. It is a shame that their place (that was once Frank's father's) is sold and especially to Stewart's. Looks like big business wins again and the local establishment is replaced. The service has been lacking now that they're closing but overall, my wife and I will really Miss this place. The pizza was always good but more than anything it was a place to meet with friends and family to eat or have a few drinks. Voorheesville basically has no gathering place now that Smitty's is closing. It was a nice, long run!
Has always been my favorite pizza since I was a kid. Especially like getting the uncooked pizzas to take home.

The pizza is amazing, but the beer and service far less than that.
