I first discovered Smales in 1983 when I was working near their location. Someone from work would go over and bring back a bag for everyone to share. I have remained a fan since my first bite of their pretzel. One of the best eating experiences you can have is enjoying a warm Smales pretzel!
This place is nothing less than iconic. I have been coming since I was a kid, picking off a piece of dough from the huge pile on a table in the back. They've tightened it up a bit since then but I will NEVER visit home and not buy Smales pretzels. The flavor is absolutely unique and delicious. Export to Virginia, please!

hi I have a question, when you guys supply pretzels for school fundraisers do you guys bake and package them or is it the school? I recently raised $100 in a pretzel fundraiser for my sons school and when we picked them up they were in paper bags but it looks like they were put in the bags hot. the outsides are weird and soggy and the salt is melted. naturally nobody wants them and I'm eating the money personally now, but I just wondered who put them in those bags while hot?
Sooo good! Blast from the past, we had these when I was in elementary school!!
