I have been an aficionado of Skipper's from the beginning. I grew up in Tampa, but had moved away for some years to pursue a career as a musician and academic. I first visited the rustic Florida smokehouse at Skipper and Nebraska on a visit home in 1980 after a summer of fieldwork studying juju music in Nigeria. Since then I hang there every time I visit my mom and bro. I'll focus on the food. Smoked mullet dip is a local delicacy.
