The view, the service and the food were amazing. First time in this restaurant and we loved it.
Met a friend for drinks. Then ordered the Kung Pao Calamari which was undoubtedly the most tender and tastiest version of this way overdone dish. Craving more fresh seafood, we opted for a Seafood Louis salad split into two. It included succulent prawns, wild caught salmon, and a generous portion of fresh Dungeness crab on a bed of greens. Not cheap but considering the view, service and class ambiance, Skates has a lot to offer.
The ambiance and the view is dynamic. I did not enjoy the quality of the food at all. I was so hungry so I ate my lobster bisque right away although it was too thick. Ordered a prime rib sandwich- I love prime rib. When the sandwich came it looked and smelled like it was from Arby's. The meat was chopped and held together with too much cheese where it was no way to identify the cut of meat or from what animal. We ordered the seafood tower come to find out they seafood tower doesn't come with crab??? So they brought it out with no crab for $112 clam chowder was very watery and nine dollars for that money not the issue here but if I'm going to eat somewhere exclusive I want my food to be exclusive I would never go back and I recommend my friends not to either
