As a tourist who began coming to Destin in 1982 when Sand Destin was just begining construction and Scenic 98 was the main road I still enjoy coming to this once sleepy beach town. Yes the beach set ups are stacked on top of each other and yes the pool has rules and your not supposed to hang your clothes on the balcony rail so if these are deal breakers go to the next sleepy beach town that has yet to experience the vacation boom. Meanwhile grab your cooler and come on down, the water is fine.
Stayed in penthouse it was nasty dirty furniture was wore out. Pool rules were ridiculous no balls or floats pool closed at 10:00. Rental beach chairs were another issue they were right on top of each other and they forced you to use them. They complained about the number of personal beach chairs we had. Their Wifi was pitiful. The beach is beautiful, although, the chairs are on top of each other. The condo itself is nice, but the management is strict to the point the guests won't want to return with pointless rules. Disappointed, we will not be staying here again. I was talking to someone that has been coming here for years, he said it's gotten worse in the last few years.
I'm not sure where to begin. You cannot have rafts or balls in the pool. At first, I understood the rational thought no big deal, however, the rules didn't stop there. In addition, you cannot get in the pool doors or any lobby doors in the evening. You have to walk all the way around, and this is not just around the corner. My whole family took a night swim within the hours of operation under pool rules. Nine of us were trying to get in the locked door with our key fob, and was unsuccessful. Silver Beach Towers is awesome, the room was great, very spacious, spectacular view of the Gulf with the occasional military helicopter flying past. The security measures are excellent never have to worry about your stuff, the staff was friendly and helpful especially the umbrella rental guys they were awesome. The water was good could have been great if it wasn't for the algae situation they have going on right now. Definitely will be planning a return visit.
