My husband Robert Stevens was burned at the age of 3 ,80 percent of his body was burned. The hospital in Columbia was going to cut off his right arm they said it couldn't be save it was to badly damaged, but the day before surgery the Shriners came in and was Robert and said they could save his arm. His parents could afford the surgery but the Shriners said they would take care of him . My son is 9 yrs old and is gearing up for his 3rd surgery at Shriners Hospital. As hard as that is for me to handle, my son isn't showing any hesitation about it. He loves Shriners and feels so comfortable there. I can't begin to explain what that does for a mother's heart. Thank you to the staff for going the extra mile.
We just returned home from our 4th visit to Shriners Hospital Greenville. This was the 2nd visit after my daughter started walking. She had only been walking about a month at the time of our 3rd visit so they wanted to see her with more experience before making any decisions. On this visit she was fitted for braces to help with her gait. She doesn't lift her right foot and it seems to roll in at the ankle.
