One of our bathrooms in a 2 bed 2 bath was leaking due to the upstairs unit. Shore failed to resolve this issue for a month but still charged us full rent even though we essentially had a 2 x 1. They withheld the credit even though they said they were "working with the owners and the HOA" and eventually ghosted us. We decided to move out after 6 months and our $2850 deposit had $1000 taken out for "repairs". Does any of this make sense? This company is a scam.
There are more ethical places in San Diego that will care about protecting you and making sure that any errors are acknowledged and addressed. They will send a violation notice to one tenant and not to another tenant with the same violation (photo proof was documented of their violation). All I will say is make sure you have documented and written records of all communication with Shore Management.
If you’re a property owner looking to expose yourself to legal risk, Shore Management might be the company for you. As a tenant, I’ve experienced firsthand what can only be described as negligence and unprofessionalism. This management company does not care whatsoever about its tenants and makes legal errors that leave their tenants unprotected. Be very cautious when doing business with them and ensure absolutely every interaction, email, phone call, is recorded. Without evidence, they fail to follow correct guidelines for the addition of and/or removal of tenants from a lease, misinform and fail to update tenants (for months at a time), and will process a transaction BEFORE any legal documentation has been finalized. Predatory practices, discriminatory behavior, and harassment — avoid at all costs. This company does everything in its power to evict tenants from rent-controlled units so they can raise rents. They use intimidation and threats of legal action even when they have no legal grounds, and they do so repeatedly. They engage in blatant discrimination.
