dont think of going there! – horrible, rude unproffessional staff! I dont see any hype associated with this place-and there shouldnt be any, they do a terrible wax job, AND they top it off with RUDE, unknowledgeable staff! There are too many better places in this city to spend your money for beauty services! This one is NOT WORTH THE TRIP!!!
Overrated – One word, overrated. They must have a great P.R. dept to get all the press they've gotten b/c I saw nothing spectacular in the service. I've gotten a better threading job for much less. I thought I'd try this place since it was close to my job. Not worth it. Don't believe the hype.
Love it – I found Shobha on Madison through Citysearch. I was going to another, less expensive threading salon on 38th and 6th for eyebrow and lip threading which I liked (but which took no appts and was out of the way for me) and was really happy when I found Shobha. The staff is great and I've been very happy with the results. I will say that threading is pretty painful no matter where you go......but I like the result more than waxing and I think people who are good at waxing charge way too much. Real customer here – I have to agree with annicunni's review. I went to Shobha a few days ago and it was awful. My eyebrows were a very thin straight line and the girl missed quite a few hairs on my lip. When I tried pointing out what I liked and didn't like for eyebrow shape, she stared at me blankly and just kept doing her own thing. I wasn't about to try a brazilian after that! I highly, highly recommend Shobha Madison... – I've been to Shobha several times for brazilians and eyebrow threading. My experiences all times have been extremely pleasant. The staff was very nice and friendly. They make you feel very comfortable....they always offer you water and tea while you wait...great service. what makes shobha great! – I've been going to Shobha for hair removal for nearly two years and wouldn't think of straying for a nano-second! The friendly, professional staff is always accomodating even if I call at the last minute. The service I've received at shobha has set the bar on what I expect for hair removal services: painless, relaxing and overall excellent results. From another person who's been to Shobha – Unlike the last reviewer, I've found my experiences at Shobha Madison to be very positive. The staff is friendly and I love the casualness of the office. I go for threading and have always had good experiences. I've never had a problem with them understanding what I want (it's a pet peeve of mine when New Yorkers-or anyone really-complain about people with accents). I would definitely reccomend this salon to those interested in having threading done.

Im really shy when it comes to going to new place to get my waxing done, but the staff at Shobha was really reassuring and made me feel at home. From someone who's actually been to Shobha – I have no idea what half of the people who rated Shobha as "great" are talking about. Part of me thinks they've never even been to this salon. It was a horrendous experience. From the arrogant staff to the sub par service to the ridiculously costly price for eyebrows. I expected a lot more professionalism and skill for $20.
