Best ramen in SoCal. – Everything is in your control. The hardness of the noodle, the heaviness of the taste, and the oiliness of the soup base. Then, there are other dishes such as the chicken rice and fried rice are also very good. However, the branch in Fountain Valley also has a Japanese BBQ in the back.
great place for beer – man is this place loud when it gets dark, the food is really good, and the place is really small cozy. they have a real coal bbq. the only thing is the wait... since this is a casual eat and drink place, people could be there for at least 2 hours, heck i have, and i have seen many people watching from the outside with daggers waiting for someone to leave... but that the whole beauty of it.... take your time eating and drinking, and leave when you want.. that why i love this place....
Great Ramen in the South Bay, Gardena – Two friends and I adventured to Hakata on Saturday afternoon. We didn't get there in time for the lunch specials which ended at 2pm. The customizable $7 Hakata Ramen was really good. I had to add cha sui to mine. The gyoza was smaller than I expected, but still really flavorful. The waiters and cooks were really nice, answered our questions, and stayed attentive. They tried to sit us at the community table, we opted out for the bar area. Tables where you could kneel were also avail. Th... read more
WAIT IS TOO LONG – Go to the Torrance one. This one doesn't add up.
Oodles of Noodles – Hakata Ramen and the Shin Sen Gumi, really got it right. They know that mixing segments of Japanese cuisines is not a good idea. They made a ramen shop, a robata yaki shop and segragated them. The noodles are not clouded by any other thoughts or ideas and the same goes for the Robata yaki. If you've ever been to Japan to a legit noodle house, you know that Hakata Ramen is as close as you will find in the states- ALL of them. Hakata Ramen tastes good, tastes the way it should and this contributes to the gr... read more
this is by far the best ramen house in l.a.. the reason why it is the best is because everything is your choice. you can choose everything from the strength of your broth to the firmness or softness of your noodles, to the types of additional toppings you desire. if you don't like it, you probably messed up your own order ;) . if ever you are craving ramen, this is the place to go. i believe they give free toys to the kids as well.
More ramen, please. – Hakata's signature ramen in "pork-bone-soup" is probably one of the best, if not the best, in LA. Nothing else compares. The only weakness of the ramen is probably the cha-shui, which is really only average. However, the combination of the ramen and the soup, however, makes up any shortcomings. Warning: It is a very addicting ramen.
