Unique ambience. Mellow, dark, candle light... good place to just kick back and relax with beer or drink. If you are looking for a good mixed drink, this is not the place. Didn't try food so I can't tell you how it is. Music can be loud if someone plays jukebox. You can sit outside and talk with your friends and watch people walk around.
i had the pleasure of visiting the shanghai tunnel on my 50th birthday and am so glad i had the experience!! the atmosphere is like none other..mellow, laid back and the best service i have had while dining in a very long time....our waitperson was very helpful and we were personally served by the chef. the vegetarian burgers were the best on the planet and the coconut chicken w/peanut sauce was unforgettable! i would recommend this place to anyone that didn't want to dig too deep in their pocket to have an experience like n... read more
BRING ON THE MEATY NACHOS!! – This place is da bomb for late night entertainment -- it's got it all, an aquarium, cheap olympia brew, and some downright tasty nachos that taste great at 2 am. (Don't try to figure out what is in the cheese sauce, or you'll get yo'self sick) I've looked into my crystal ball and it says "This place rox"
average place to party – literally underground. decent beer selection, dark, dim, and chill atmosphere. eclectic and diverse crowd. food is a strange combination of asian cuisines and fries. really sub-par. kind of tackily built around this pan-asian premise that really misses, but in portland, is completely acceptable. at least they had spaten beer. no one else does.
Salty in Shanghai – Good down and dirty feel in this swanky kickback to a 50's Shanghai bar. Hardly anyone will notice the paintings on the wall are Japanese and not Chinese but most will dig on the ambience and the cosmo feel of the place nonetheless.
Fantastic Hangout – Love this place! Great, low-key ambience with interesting waitstaff (if you care enough to make an effort.) Everything on the menu is yummy and reasonably priced. Terrific place for a date or a quick stop-in.
Shanghai Rocks!! – This was, by far, the favorite of the 12 places we entered. The bartender was soooo cool - a tall slender bearded guy with oodles of jewelry - turquoise, onxy, agate, etc. - long hair with a leather-cowboy style look. Good drinks - great atmosphere. Loved it!
