If I can give a zero or negative star to Shamburg Heating then I would. My gas fireplace was shutting down every 10-15 minutes so I called them and had them (Charlie) came over to my house to diagnose and see what's causing the shut down. After 15 minutes of diagnostic Charlie told me he could NOT pinpoint what's the cause of the problem but said he THINK it's the SIT valve. In response to Kim. A's review: We were called out to one of his rental homes. He had taped up the wiring with duct tape and had taken the spill switch out of the system (he emailed us photos prior to the visit). The spill switch is one of the mechanisms that shuts a fireplace off if there is a safety issue. He had tried to bypass the safety features of the fireplace in the home that he was renting out in order to save repair costs. It has been a year and a half since I've needed a repair, but I had such a positive experience with Shamburg Heating last time, it was an easy decision to give them a call back. I only call back 5-star contractors...These folks rated in my book. I'd recommend them anytime.

Would never do business again with them. I found that the installer that was sent to our house was inexperienced, installed the heater incorrectly and overall not worth the money spent.

Constistently good work... – Shamburg has installed a new Frididaire gas furnace in our basement and a new Jotul gas stove in our dining room. They did such a good job at estimating, planning and executing both jobs that we are having them install a Williams gas wall furnace in our basement. Their bids, which we received in writing, were detailed, competitive and accurate. They also are accommodating and "work around" the odd things that pop up very well. I would not hesitate to recommend them for any residential job.

Response to Review posted by “Pressure" on 10/31/09: – We believe the review posted by “Pressure“ to be false. We give written contracts to each and every customer. Before we ever begin work, the price is agreed on and the contract is signed. We stick to our bids even if the job requires more work than initially anticipated. Does not provide all the facts – We had a quote from another heating/ac provider, but wanted to use a local person from Tualatin. Shamburg heating not provided a competitive quote. Once the work was finished, it ruined the aesthetics of the outside of my house, the price was more that was quoted by over $500. If I had to do it over, I would have used the other provider.

Honest Service Scott Shamburg is a great guy. He came to our home after we were told by the manufacturer of our fireplace insert that it was recalled years ago. We were interested in getting it fixed. The manufacturer wanted us to put a new one in, Scott said not necessary!
