This review is for dental: The hygienist I saw was so kind and amazing with my first cleaning in SEVERAL years. She was reassuring and helped me feel seen and safe. I did not really appreciate Dr. Tuan Truong. He barely spoke to me at all and I feel like I saw him for 30 seconds. I was going to get a procedure there, but I opted out because I didn't feel like I could raise concerns with him. Because my hygienist was so great, I'm giving this four stars. Its so nice to have this health center on campus. The staff are so amazing.
The bad reviews for SHAC completely confuse me! SHAC has been completely amazing for me. I've seen multiple people on the nurse staff, a doctor, a counselor who helped me to find a therapist in my insurance network, an intake counselor, the phlebotomist and of course the front desk staff, and I have not had a negative experience. It seems like a lot of folks giving negative reviews aren't clear on what SHAC does and doesn't do, and that they're only allowed to serve students who paid the health center fee that term (not the health insurance, the fee that's part of "tuition and fees"). They also are conflating what policies are set by SHAC versus the PSU Student Fee Committee, the state, health insurance companies, and so on.
