I hosted my Red Hat Chapter on last Tuesday. The staff was so wonderful first on the phone with TJ, and Brandon. Then when we arrived and escorted to our table they were so welcoming and friendly. Our waited was very attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. We All were very happy with our food it was delicious and plentiful. Most took some home. Two If us had dessert and it was just the right amount. We will be back for sure!
First off I want to say the staff is great. I have hosted several events in their private room and the service was excellent. My hesitation to revisit Second Street is the continual mark up of prices, especially their "happy hour" offerings. I had not been their in a while until last Friday (27 May) and ordered "house" merlot. When the bill arrived, the charge was $16 for two glasses. That's 200% over retail cost of the wine. I was staying a week in Newport News, and this place was literally right next to my hotel. The last night I was there, I decided to check it out. I wish I had gone there earlier. Casey was my waitress, and I asked for some recommendations. The crispy pork belly is some of the best I've had. Very tender, very tasty, and it just melts in your mouth.
