I was greatly looking forward to my appointment with Dr. Sean Burke. I have been suffering with some unexplainable and debilitating symptoms for several months . When meeting with him I was hopeful he could provide some much needed recommendations and " a plan" to help with my symptoms. Unfortunately, I experienced the complete opposite. The neurological examination he performed was extremely rushed with minimal concern for my symptoms. His bed side manor was cold and quick. He appeared to be partial attentive to what I was ... read more

Worst doctor I’ve ever seen in my life. Showing no caring or respect at all. Would have no faith in him since he showed he does not truly care for his patients.

I am currently an unhappy patient of Dr. Burke's and looking for a new provider. When I call Carilion Riverside 3 building there is always a problem with the phones. This particular time I called regarding a new prescription for my MS medication and had the worse time speaking with someone. When I did the call dropped. I had to call back and leave multiple messages which is not great customer service. 7 days later( without medication) I finally spoke with someone and got the issue addressed.

Highly recommend Dr. Burke. My husband had a memory lapse problem and was in the hospital. We still aren't 100% sure what the cause is but Dr. Burke spent a long time examining him and collecting data, more test will be done in the future. I feel confident Dr. Burke will resolve this. He was very patient with us and explained his condition.

He was very from the beginning. He wasn't interested in helping me. He insisted I take a medication that I had tried 3 times with no help and terrible side effects for my migraines. He got so frustrated he threw his pen in the air when I refused to retake the medication. He offered no other help at all. He was very rude and inconsiderate.

I first met Dr. Burke when I was an inpatient at Carilion RMH. I had an ongoing issue that no one could figure out. Dr. Burke diagnosed me with in two days. I found him to be very friendly, extremely knowledgeable, and willing to answer my many questions. I was released from the hospital on a Thursday and he actually called me at home on Saturday to check on me. He is now my neurologist and I am very comfortable with him. I recommend him to anyone with in need of a neurologist.

Agreed: Poor interaction, and "god complex" seem quite accurate descriptions. Had briefcase in hand while patient was still asking questions. Listened to react, not to hear - whether it was a question (misinterpreted because of not listening) or information being provided (because, goodness, what could a patient offer in the way of observation of his/her own malaise and goals?). An absolute closed mind not befitting a physician so young nor an instructor mentoring residents. New provider sought.

We were not happy with Dr. Burke. He made us feel very awkward during the appointment. He seemed as though he was bothered by us being there. He started our first appointment by saying "What do you want" Would not recommend him, we are currently looking for a new neurologist.

Dr. Burke did not want to listen to anything I had to say. Everything was his way or the highway. Absolutely no bed-side manner and he has a God complex.
