Very thorough, informative, and able to explain procedures without talking down to me regarding my brain tumor. I felt at immediate ease and had no problem discussing my situation and its remedies. His background is one of great competence and his personality is extremely reassuring. When I go in for surgery in July I feel confident that all will be well and I will live for a long, long time.
Zero likelihood of recommending Dr. Schroeder. Today my wife came home from her appt with Dr Schroeder in tears. She had the MRI's done, spoken with Schroeder's office to confirm they had her MRI - twice. They told her she was all set. Dr. Schroeder rudely informed my wife that it was the wrong MRI - it was her fault and he couldn't do anything with it. Schroeder is ARROGANT and incompetent. Ordered more tests - clearly for the wrong problem. Worst experience with a physician we've ever had.
3 weeks after back surgery I walked 3 miles and biked for 15 minutes. Dr. Schroeder and Dr. Liu were informative, caring, positive, and professional in every way. St. Joseph hospital was very good. The nurses, prep nurses and surgical nurses were bright, cheerful, and consumed with patient care. This whole procedure gets a big thumbs-up
I would not recommend Dr Schroeder to my worst enemy. He did brain surgery on my 81 year old mother, that actually hastened her death, all the while telling her that her prognosis was 3-5 years. He discharged her 24 hours after said surgery. It did not go well. She was dead in 3 1/2 months. If you draw the short straw in the ER, and get him, get a second opinion-stat!
I never saw Dr. Schroeder. When making an appointment his assistant was the most arrogant, demeaning health care person I have ever come across. In no uncertain terms I was told it was my responsibility to furnish my primary physician's notes, the results of my MRI including the images on disc and a doctor's referral even though I'm on Medicare. It was not their responsibility to request this information.Only then would the doctor deem me worthy of his expertise. Life is too short!!
Dr. Schroeder recognized and understood my sciatic nerve symptoms. He ordered necessary testing and explained clearly the results; and my options. Thanks to his surgical repairs to my back, I am now free from sciatic pain and able to resume a normal life.
