Dan Z I come to Valparaiso about once a month and am always looking for a great burger. The locals highly recommend Schoops. I purposely asked the waitress if I can have my burger medium rare, and she said yes. It came burned to a crisp, and when I mentioned it to her, responded "sorry". When checking out and asked if everything was ok, and said no, that I requested medium rare and it was burned to a crisp, the response was, "we only make our burgers well done and very few places will make anything but well done." Valpo's Best Burgers Schoop's has the absolute BEST hamburgers I have ever tasted ANYWHERE! You had better come with an appetite because these handmade beauties are huge and putting down a double cheeseburger will take all you've got. The menu isn't very broad but this is a "Hamburger Joint" but does have a "kids menu" as well. I love the cheese fries (cheese is put on the side in container) and also great Chili that can serve as a meal all in itself. Fantastic milk shakes and great service. always good food WHen you come here you know the burgers and fries will be just great. The shakes are so yummy too. BUt let me tell ya it is so price. For my family of 5 to eat here. It was $55. for a burger joint that is pricey
Chesterton vs Valpo schoops yesterday I ate at the chesterton schoops for the first time and I was blown away. It was easly 10 times better than the one in valpo. The food was good the service was fast and the store was clean. I might not ever go back to valpo but i can see my self back at the chesterton location very soon.
Chesterton Schoops In response to the person who talked about the Chesterton location, I have been to Chesterton Schoops on many occasions and have ALWAYS had excellent service. The food comes out fast and HOT! All the Schoops are great no matter which location you visit, they each have their own little niche. Chesterton has the BEST shakes. They hand dip theirs with Sherman's ice cream from South Haven, Michigan. They also have an ice cream counter with several of Sherman's ice creams. It is definitely worth the drive from ... read more
