For more than half a century, this cozy home-style restaurant has treated locals like family; hence, the difficulty of getting a table on the weekends. Bring the kids, everyone else does, and feast on fare only Grandma could serve. From dainty little portions of seafood to the massive 72-ounce steaks, there is something for everyone. The lounge has a great selection of spirits ranging from beer to delicious cocktails. Order one to wash down the enormous quantities of food or just chill out with a post meal drink. Ate here first time easy to see how they have been in business 79 years great food great service generous drinks and best value . Portland is a funky place but would consider moving here just for Saylers . Best part family owned one of my favorite places in U S next to Hymans in Charleston SC
We have been going to â??country kitchen â?? since 1985 and have never been disappointed! Itâ??s been our favorite family restaurant to celebrate special occasions like birthdays, anniversaries and graduations or to just have a great meal ! We moved out of the state for about 20 years and moved back to the northwest five years ago. When we would come and visit friends on our vacations, we always went to â??country kitchenâ??. Weâ??re so glad to be back in the northwest so we can enjoy our favorite meal! We feel at home here ... read more
My family has been going to Sayler's since Art and Rick opened for business back in 1946. My folks were friends with Art for a lot of years before my family moved to the country. Seems like all special family occasions are spent at this excellent steak house designed for informal family dining with what we feel are the best steaks in the Pacific Northwest. It was busy but the wait time was almost nil for our party of six. Steaks were cooked to perfection and the wait staff was pleasant and helpful, checking in frequently thro... read more
Excellent service & food. Just took my 86 year-old father for a special night out. The waitress was super nice, attentive and patient. The food was delicious (filet mignon [medium well] & seafood combo [grilled]) and cooked to perfection. Great value for the money.
Tacky add on charge! We've been going to Sayler's since I was a kid (over 40 years). I have always asked for a straw for my ice water. Yesterday after getting the bill, I discovered a charge of 75 cents for asking for a straw. When did Sayler's start charging for a straw?
When my husband and I want to celebrate this is where we like to go. Great prime rib served to my request, rare. That sauce they have for dipping is so good, we use it to dip everything. Love that you get a full meal too, including the relish tray and the ice cream for dessert. Thank you for keeping it old school and just as great as the first time I ate there in the '70's. We will be back. Diane
peter the very best steak is in hains ,oregom the hains staak house smallest is 15 oz and goes up to 42 0z better than any place and the best baked beans also
I can't count how many times i have gone to sayler' for dinner. from the time I went with my father to the times I went with my ex-wife to the many times I enjoyed dinner with my present wife. I can't get enough prime rib or the excellent steak selection. As a matter of fact my wife and I will be there this Mothers Day for dinner. Now all I have to do is figure out what steak to have.
My friend from ND came into Bend over Christmas and New Years and said "Pack your bags were going to Portland to eat". So 2 1/2 hours later were we driving through a VERY full parking lot, my thought was "really 3 hours for this"? We placed our name on a very long list and headed into the bar for some drinks and video poker. I had just ordered my drink and put $20 in and our name was called. WooHoo! My friend had been bragging about this place the whole entire trip, he had nothing but good things to say about the food. My dr... read more
