This hospital is filled with compassionate nurses, doctors, technicians and volunteers who are doing an impossible job with dignity and grace. I witnessed the care which my mother, father and now I have received from multiple departments. As a Sault resident I am grateful to have this level of care in our community.
Abysmal. Absolutely Abysmal care at this hospital. I have no idea what happened to the service of care in healthcare over the years, but I must say it's abysmal. My family doctor retired years ago and I am without a doctor and haven't used healthcare services in a decade. I had to come into emergency for an legitite injury....then the emergency doctor finally (after the second visit) gave a CT scan that they should have done the first time to rule out any serious potentially life threatening complications. I was admitted by ambulance to the Sault Area Hospital at approx 4:30 am on September 2nd. I live approximately 1 hr from Sault Ste Marie. Thank you to the paramedics for responding so quickly when my husband called for assistance. My stay in ICU for the week I was there was amazing. I could have not gotten better care and treatment at any other medical facility. Thanks to the ICU doctors and nursing staff on this ward for helping get me through everything. Coming up on 11 hours now, waiting in the SAH emergency department with my 84 year old mother, who was brought in by ambulance with severe abdominal pain and vomiting. She still hasn't seen a doctor. After the nausea and pain calmed down a little with meds she was given, she was put in a waiting room in the emergency department, sitting in a chair for the first 7 hours, then finally at just after 11:00 pm was brought into a room with a bed so she could lie down. i’ve always had a good experience here. i’ve went for serious emergencies 2 times in the past 2 years. the staff was kind and attended to my needs. i’m not sure what the deal is with all the negative reviews. it’s not a 5 star hotel, but they do their best to keep you comfortable and alive.!!
