I used to go to Saul's whenever I was in Berkeley. I took my grandchildren, one of whom pronounced it "Sa-ul"s" as if it were Spanish. The last three times we were there, it was awful. The latkes were cold, foul tasting and hard. The server said They were experimenting with a new oil. The sandwiches were mediocre.Two of my favorite men accompanied me over the past 4 years (not at the same time). I thought the restaurant was a constant in my life, but no longer.

Great place, great deli. It’s working both traditional East Coast deli and Sephardic angles. Their pastrami is house made and is insanely great!
Miss corn beef sandwiches on onion roll in Detroit! Tried it on rye bread. 😎
