The Sarasota Power Squadron ( SPS ) was founded in 1952 and today is one of the largest of the USPS Squadrons, with over 300 local members. We are a totally volunteer organization. Our recently expanded and renovated Education Building is the center of our teaching efforts for all courses - to include the Boat Smart classes for the public and advanced and elective marine courses for members. Great organization of current and past-boatowners and those interested in boating and the comradarie and activities.
Participated in the SPSS Sailing Raft Up this weekend. As a boater/sailor, I had great fun and immediate confidence in SPSS from their friendly welcome and demonstrative on-the-water knowledge! Will be taking their courses!
A great place to learn about power boating, sail boating, navigation, marine electronics, VHF & SSB and Ham Radio, boat and engine maintenance , kayaking and many other things about being on the water, as well as meeting some really great people who love to be on the water.
