Founded in 1934, The Sarah P. Duke Gardens offers 55 acres (22 hectares) of world-class gardens in the center ofDuke University. More than five miles (eight kilometers) of pathways lead visitors on walks through four sections of beautifully landscaped terraces, gardens, and arboretums. The Duke Gardens host gardening, photography, and natural history classes, and a summer concert series. A cafe and a visitor center are on the grounds. Walking and trolley tours are given four days a week; reservations are recommended.

AWSOME picnic place with kids
some of my most reflective and happy moments are of my life moments in these gardens; as a child throwing frisbee and picnicking in the park. Watching my little children roll down the hill. Romantic moments with my love strolling the paths and taking pictures at the reflection ponds. Seeing my now grown daughter who once rolled down the hills marry her love under the wisteria pergola. It is a forever TREASURE to my heart!
I really love the Gardens it is beautiful!!! I.will recommend that you go see this place. Wonderful!
Beautifully done place of respite from the world
Love these gardens and they keep it very clean and the staff at the visitors center is friendly. Great place for families to go and pack a picnic lunch. Thank you for these beautiful gardens and letting people visit free of charge!
