I guess I must have had a completely different experience than those leaving a 1 star review. I ended up getting sent up to Shands @UF when my local doctors didn't have the specialty or confidence in their ability to handle my extremely complicated condition. One of the things that has stuck with me to this day... is how absolutely comprehesive Dr. Tan was with treating me. I think some people mistake her using each pt as a learning experience for the med students she oversees. She saved me <3
Dr Tan is arrogant, dismissive of patient concerns, She comes across as uncaring and with having no empathy. I doubt that she makes herself totally aware of her patient's history because she asks things already explained and documented in the chart and recommends a course of action already attempted and failed. She not only doesn't listen well, apparently she doesn't read either! And she has her staff respond to patient questions, not bothering herself. She may know surgery, but nothing about us
I gave 1 star because I had to. Dr. Tan always has no compassion nor bedside manner and rushes to get through her appointments. She's lost sight of why she became a doctor. She doesn't ask the patient about their concerns and she talks but doesn't listen. She's disconnected and abrupt, forgetting we're people and not charts. She gives basic explanations (if at all) and is disconnected. Find a doctor who still cares about you as a person, not another surgical patient!
This Dr has a PC driven agenda of her own. In her rank it's very apparent there is no one there to rein her in and remind her of who pays for her golf lessons. She will throw aside your quality of life concerns to make her agenda as she see's fit. I would not allow her to operate on me if I were dying-much less able to make the decision by myself. Lack of concern for the patient with no "bedside manner" whatsoever makes this person a robot who has forgotten her obligation to her patients.
My daughter had perirectal abscess surgery in June. Was in hospital for 3 days seen Dr. once after surgery and not before discharge. Was sore in Sept. and given antibiotics. Called end of Feb. with blood in stool, given appt. 2 weeks later. At appt. scheduled for MRI on March 22. Her office called later that day to say there was an abscess and Dr. Tan scheduled surgery for April 4. No discussion of what kind of surgery, how long in hospital. Has not contacted her since. 7 days til next surgery.
experienced much satisfaction in the extensive surgery performed by doctor....maintained confidence throughout hospital stay and rehab due to Dr. Tan's expertise.
