Sandy and Laura Sanborn founded Big Spring Ranch for Boys in the central Colorado Rockies in 1948. In 1962, they built High Trails Ranch for Girls a mile from the Big Spring site. The Sanborn Junior program for children 7-10 started in 1989. Tens of thousands of young people have participated in our Colorado summer camp for girls, boys, and teens over the last 60 years. This will be my boys' 4th year at Sanborn, but that has not diminished their enthusiasm for this special place. They are counting down the days until they arrive in June. The staff is amazing and both my boys have had consistency with their counselors over the past 3 years. My boys rave about the food and activities, look forward to the social events with the girls' camp, and make friends from all over the world whom they look forward to seeing every year. The setting is perfectly Colorado and remote. My boys think of it as extended family and a home away from home.
