Sam's has been a favorite of mine since the 80's ... a real classic SF restaurant like Tadisches Grill and John's on Ellis!
A classic San Francisco restaurant. Nice booths for private dining. Excellent service: Tony at the bar is bright, erudite, and down-to-earth. Very easy to talk with, and he knows his liquors. Whiskey sour is tart, as I like it. Manhattan was superb, mixed with smooth rye.

Ate at Sam's tonight and just learned that Giovanni retired. I'll miss him; Giovanni served us on many visits over the decades. Service has always been excellent and was so tonight, too; nice people work at Sam's. Sam's Grill has long been my favorite SF restaurant. Tonight's salmon was superb.
This place was fantastic. Can't wait to go back.
A true San Francisco classic restaurant. Private wooden booths, tuxedo wearing waiters great grill and seafood. For those of you who enjoy a cocktail, a great bar. Enjoy!
