After searching for help during a mental health crisis, the Samaritan PHP (Partial Hospitalization Program) ended up being the only place able to help me. I was brought into their three-week program, and I couldn't be happier with how it went. I felt thoroughly supported and appreciated, I learned so much and grew even more. The staff members (Terri, Lauren, Daryl, Erin, Brian) were all absolutely WONDERFUL folks and so helpful in my mental health journey. The mental healthcare system in America is a joke. They defunded mental health in the 1970s and here we are in the most disgusting and dangerous system imaginable. You can by in full blown psychosis and they will say you are fine and discharge you because they don’t have the beds or staff to actually care for you. This particular mental health facility is proof of how we treat people with mental illness - shove them in them basement of the hospital - and it’s dirty and not maintained at all.
