Not friendly to new clients. I am new to this salon and I don't have a specific stylist. I booked online for a service because of an upcoming event and was booked with a random stylist that was available. Less then 24 hours, I get a cancellation notice and an email from the stylist saying she was unwell and couldn't perform my service and she would send other times later that day. The hairstylist was very sweet and kind, and I really wanted to love my experience. I booked a haircut and gloss with no style. In my previous experiences at other salons, "no style" has still included a quick blow-dry so the stylist can check the cut while it's dry and make any final adjustments. At Salon Astoria, my hair was cut only while wet, and I left with wet hair, so I couldn't really see the finished result until I got home. I got this service back in 12/2025, and the experience truly stayed with me. I booked the appointment based on location and it was with Kelly Olafson. Upon arrival, I came in and stood there for a while, before a stylist told me to take a seat. Kelly came out shortly after. Alyssa is truly the best. I’ve been going to her for years and she never misses. I’ve booked last minute with other stylists at Salon Astoria before and she, too, was great! The salon has a great atmosphere; I always feel welcomed! Highly recommend booking here, and I don’t say that lightly!
Overall, the price point for a full foil is competitive and a good value proposition. The hallmark of a great salon versus an average one is consistent quality across stylists and excellent client service. A great salon makes a client feel welcome and has receptionists to greet us. Refreshments are offered - typically water, coffee, tea, and soda. I would only give a salon 4 or 5 stars if it met these criteria. Salon Astoria does not. This is a low-touch, medium-quality salon.
