Unfortunately, my experience with this doctor has been extremely frustrating and disappointing. I found him to be unresponsive and lacking in effective communication, which negatively impacted the quality of care I received. Dr. Gallivan is clearly a very smart and capable doctor. Yes, the appointment was very brief and he is a bit abrupt, but he asked the necessary questions, was clearly well read in terms of my chart and allowed me time to speak and respond. I am not going to the doctor to make a new friend or to have a long chat. I want to see someone who is an expert in their field, it is clear that Dr. Gallivan is, and I want to get in and out as quickly and painlessly as possible. This Dr was rude from the minute he walked in the room. He rapid fires questions at you but does not allow you time to fully answer anything. Without warning this man used the palm of his hand and forcefully pushed my head back on the head rest. If I had ever treated a patient like that at my job, I would have been fired.
Was aj erk from the moment he walked in. Was brisk, not very communicative or answered questions well and did not seem to care much about the patient. If you have any other choice, take it.
I didn't have a great experience with Dr. Gallivan. I had a septorhinoplasty/turbinate reduction which didn't result in any marked improvement to my condition. In addition, I now have significant nasal valve collapse (a common, yet often undisclosed, side-effect of nasal surgery). Now, to be fair, I was a complex case to begin with, and I realize that any surgery can be ineffective/cause side effects. I had been self treating a chronic sinus condition for decades with little success, using OTC drugs and nasal sprays. My symptom was a severe nasal obstruction but thankfully very few headaches/sinus pressure. My CPAP made it possible for me to breathe through the night. Dr. Gallivan started my sinus treatment with topicals, but he also did a CT scan of my sinuses which revealed that all of my sinuses were almost completed closed. Dr. Gallivan got our son in fast for a broken nose. Surgery was extremely easy and our son's nose looks fantastic. He explains every detail and its easy to see he loves his profession.
Dr. Gallivan told me there was nothing that could be done for my snoring and upon getting a second opinion, it was simply cured. The doctor also displays unusual bedside behavior with a red laser light on the wall as he talks. His abilities are in question as well as his behavior. I felt very uncomfortable in his presence.
I am an Anesthesiologist, and have worked with Surgeons with varying surgical skills and personalities over my 25 year career. I choose Dr Gallivan based on his extensive training and reputation. I found him to be professional and personal. The time he spent during our visits was never rushed, we had an eye to eye conversation no computer interface. He explained my surgery in detail and all of my questions were answered in detail.I had a fantastic result. I highly recommend Dr Gallivan
