After 20 years of knee pain I went to UC Health for options, and thankfully my PA Gary Sakryd cut the BS and honestly told me that replacement was my only option. Dr. Koonce is the worst provider I have ever seen. He is condescending, rude and arrogant. He told me there was nothing he could do for me, come to find out with further imaging my hip had far more damage than previously thought.

Zero stars. I have severe arthritis in my knee, and was told that they could not treat me at the first visit per my insurance. This was NOT true, my insurance will cover treatment at the first visit. Then I was told that the injection had to be pre-authorized, and it could take a month. This is also NOT true, the injection did NOT need to be pre-authorized. I was then told that the medication had to go to a specialty pharmacy, which was also not true, my insurance covers it through the office. I had to find all of this out b... read more

Both my hips had severe degeneration over the last three years. X-rays showed bone on bone. Surgery was the only option for me. I interview Dr. Koonce as well as another surgeon. I have some other medical conditions which complicated things and I decided on Dr. Koonce due to his confidence in working with me. I had the first replacement Jan ‘24 and the second April ‘24.
