Please get second opinion before you go thru any surgery with Dr. Ryan Cyril Pate. He is extremely pushy to get her hip to replace and does not offer even second options. Yet my 84-year-old mother did not need a hip replacement. He was so aggressive and would not even allow us to talk to anyone. We went to a different Dr’s office and the mother needed only therapy. Dr. Pate was not my initial surgeon for my hip replacement. However, after two failed attempts to get the hip to stay in place, he was called in to perform the surgery that worked. I wish that he had been my original surgeon. He and his staff are all professional, and caring. After the my hip replacement, I also had him do my knee replacement. I am on year four of both replacements. I have a minimal scar in both locations that healed beautifully. I have had no problems what-so-ever with either replacement; the recovery time ... read more
Read the Reminder--"but bad things sometimes happen". In my case, it did. I was on the wait list for 3 months, during which I went to Physical Therapy to prepare for the surgery and reduce recovery time. During the surgery--inserting new hip - Dr. Pate hit the femur bone and fractured it. I was not told after the surgery. The hospital "stay" was too short, considering the injury, and the hospital staff just gave me heavy drugs and discharged me the next day. I never saw the doctor or walked with the walker and PT.
