500 Degrees – No doubt, this place had the hottest plates in a steakhouse this side of the Allegheny. 500 degree plates for everything! If you love hot plates like I love hot plates, you won't be disappointed. Great atmosphere and good looking guys. Only cons would be slightly pricey and the dessert plates were well under 500.
I love this place!! – This place is the BEST place for Steak!! They know how to cook it and cook it well. Never to disappoint whether i eat it at Midtown NYC or all the way at Puerto Rico! I went to Palm's before, and they burned my steak, it was disgusting, BUT Ruth's Chris is the best place around. Try the Crabtini for appetizer, it's pretty good, the spinach & mashed potatoes sides are yummy too. I def. recommend this place!!!!
Sizzler Like – I was somewhat disappointed. Sure it looks nice. Comfortable. And I thought the service was good unlike others on here. Not fantastic but good. Food? Appetizers so so. Salads are unimaginative. Steak is average. I asked for steak au poivre and I got a steak with cold sauce on the side. what? Thats not how you serve it! sides were good but somewhat cold. Desserts were blaze. For this sort of money choose somewhere else. I hear Sparks is great but even more pricey (but you really dont care if its good), peter lu... read more
Unique good food, efficient service, slightly pricey – The food is beautifully presented and tasty (try the rib appetizer!). It is somewhat expensive, though. The service is efficient, though not particularly friendly. Rumor is that the waitstaff is instructed NOT to stop at the tables and ask "is everything all right?" or "do you need anything else?" Weird! The crowd is a nice mix of artists, tourists, and locals. The hostess was very accommodating to our ever expanding group... as it should be, since there are no reservati... read more
yipes... – This was the worst service I have ever had in my life. Not only did we have to ask for our water/drinks/bread about 5 times, but the food was ICE COLD by the time it reached the table. My fish was cooked wrong twice and the sides of vegetables reeked like it had been sitting out for a week. Everything was overpriced and the place was crawling with bratty kids, tourists and loud trash. Skip it.
There is always room for steak... – This was a restaurant week visit. I am always in the mood for steak and Ruth Chris was a place to visit. Ruth Chris is a true steak experience. They prepare the steak very simply and allow your palate to savor the meat. The dining area was airy and spacious. The waitstaff was attentive and very friendly. The sides were adequate, and the desserts tasted average at best. If you love steaks and believe dining should be an enjoyable experience then Ruth Chris is a restaurant worth considering.... read more
Go somewhere else – We went for restaurant week. I had the steakhouse salad which was VERY basic and I agree with a previous review that cited cheap supermarket croutons. I got the ribeye, asked for medium but it was medium well. It comes with a lot of melted butter on top, A LOT. I was just ok, nohting special, not awful but forgettable and overdone. We ordered an extra side to share (au gratin potatoes) and it was very small and nothing special. Dessert was some kind of "chocolate mousse" but it really seemed like a no bak... read more
Shockingly poor food. You can find better steaks at half the price. – The bread: Tasteless white garbage. The butter: Tasteless whipped garbage. The calamari appetizer: Greasy and tasteless. The ?steakhouse salad? ok except for the cheap supermarket croutons. The $44 Cowboy Bone-In Ribeye: also tasteless. The most tasteless steak I have ever eaten. I do not believe it is prime beef. And also it was incredibly SMALL. You expect an inch-and-a-quarter-thick tasty piece of meat at this price. This half-inch-thick ribeye was just... read more
Are you kidding me? – This was my first visit to Ruth's Chris and although the wait staff was hospitable and ready to please, the food was average at most. The sides are a joke. $8.50 for a side of button mushrooms that looked like they were just thrown onto the plate with the butter sauce and warmed up. Another $8.50 for one potato sliced up into 6-8 wedges. Nothing special about these sides. Tasted mediocre. In addition, I had to send my entree back because it was not cooked properly. The replacement dish was not much bett... read more
