I came to Cedars-Sinai ER on a Tuesday at 5 a.m. due to severe ear pain. The wait was so long that I eventually left without being seen. Later that day, urgent care near my apartment directed me back to the ER to ensure the infection hadn’t spread. When I returned, I ended up spending about 10 hours there. Today, August 27, 2025, Cedars-Sinai Emergency Room in Los Angeles is very busy. With 53 beds, so far, 140 patients have checked in. Needless to say, it is challenging to make each patient feel like they matter, with so many moving parts. As one of those patients, I have had my challenges today, as well. Two people have stood out: José Velasquez, R.N., and Kimberly McGoarty, Charge Nurse.
