Originally, these cottages were part of a labor camp for the Brockway Lumber Company, and they were converted to vacation cottages in 1925. Each unit is decorated with its own character and personality. If you are looking for that modern resort, this is not it. Really liked this family run resort. Stayed there last minute after looking at some really horrible places. This place was great, super clean cabins, and great staff. Cabins were older but well kept up. We could also tell they are in the process of making a few upgrades to the cabins soon, saw new TV's to be installed soon.
Terrible terrible company. Hateful against my friends calling them B*tches and other hurtful words. My lovely friends are the 2 nicest ladies on the planet. Not only that rustic cottage resorts has now harassed my other friends an I over our review of their very bad business practice. Love that there is a kitchenette, BBQ on ur porch, yummy snacks during the day and a great breakfast. Great people who truly want you to have a great stay, for example, I forgot lighter fluid, asked the front desk n low n behold they had some to share. n they r pet friendly. Just beautiful here too!

What a special place! We enjoyed ourselves so much and we will definitely be back! We stayed at the "Spooner" cottage and it was perfect for us and our 7 month old Golden Retriever who is my Service Dog in Training. The staff and owners were beyond nice and accommodating. The hot breakfast was so delicious, I can still taste those scrumptious Belgian Waffles and sausage! Thank you Rustic Cottages!
I am appalled at the way the owner of the company handled this situation. My PARTNER - yes we are a gay couple - thanks Marshall for your homophobic quotations. We had to postpone our wedding due to COVID-19 and this so called nice man was immediately incredible rude when we called to ask if there was anything he could do about refunding our friends reservation. All true. Gay or Straight our boss has a gift of sorting our problem potential guest long before they are exposed to and protect our family and staff. Amazing! The cottage was more than we expected! Clean and cozy. They served us breakfast fresh every morning. No charge to borrow sleds or any other items you may need. We showed up and they upgraded us at no charge. They are amazing!!! We plan to come back.
We started going there in the mid 1970s when our children were very young. Started up again in 2002 and go back every year to Rustic Cottage Resort. It is part of the Lake Tahoe experience for us.
