Only authentic French Restaurant in Buffalo – I have visited The Rue Franklin many times and have always been impressed with the consistency of their use of fresh seasonal produce, excellent desserts, fine wines, and ambience. I must admit as a lover of cuisine that The Rue Franklin is my favorite restaurant in Buffalo. They have been around for much longer than most restaurants in their neighborhood and have greatly refined themselves. I find it sad that anyone would have visited The Rue Franklin and had a negative experien... read more
Waste of time, money, food. – This place is the most over-rated restaurant I have ever been to in my life. Inside, it is decorated like one of those 40ft. Winnebago campers that old people in Palm Springs live in -- mirrored columns, drab green carpet, tacky and tactless light fixtures. Despite the fact that we ordered an expensive bottle of wine (when the waiter did finally get around to noticing that we had been sitting and waiting for roughly 20 minutes), we were still treated like a nuisance. My wife's steak was *very* o... read more
Exceeded my expcetations – After reading some poor reviews on city search, I was a little hesitant on making the trip to Rue Franklin. But, the reservations were made and my girlfriend was excited about the trip...so off we went. The service was excellent and the food was even better. A trip to Rue Franklin is a must for any fine diner in Buffalo
Don't Bother! A group of friends and I dined at the Rue last year. Since it is our hobby to try different restaurants, we were really looking forward to this dining experience. Everything was horrible from service to price, ambiance to portion size. I agree with other reviews that the vibe was weird. It was not welcoming and you got the feeling you were putting your server out. We are a group of 30-40 something professionals who enjoy good food and don't mind paying for the experience. This one was totally disappointing. In ... read more
decent but strange place – I would not suggest going here if you are younger than 30... Im 25 and myself and my girlfriend of the same age went here. To put it frankly we were kind of creeped out. its very old french style, small tables, has very strange music and its very bright. Everyone else that was there was MUCH older (60's +) and seemed to be going to the play that night... The food was ok, not the greatest, slightly over priced... It wasnt a terrible restaurant at all it just wasnt really suitable for our demographic... read more
Terrible food and worse service .. go anywhere else but here.. – We looked forward to going to the Rue but were utterly disappointed. With what they charge per plate, you'd think they would at least remove the tiny bones from the rabbit stew. My date's meat dish was bland and soda was flat. The waiters didn't know what they were serving when asked. Overall high expectations and poor delivery. We will never go back to the Rue. Too bad citysearch doesn't allow minus ratings because this one is a NEGATIVE two stars !!
Best French Restaurant In Buffalo – Deedee Lippes is the most gracious hostess at this premier french restaurant in Buffalo. Favorites include the foie gras, monkfish, cod, duck breast, and filet. The cheese plate is a must. For dessert, the tarte tatin is my favorite. Overall this restaurant is one of, if not the, best in Buffalo.
Food poorly prepared and lack flavor, there are better places in town – paid $$$ to go on a thursday night where you'd expect the service to be stellar. poor service with uneducated staff on what the specials of the evening made for a bad night out. go to mother's restaurant for alot less money and service. highly NOT recommended !!
Superb, Gallic-style cuisine and an intimate setting amid a garden terrace combine for the perfect romantic evening. – In Short In a transformed 1880s row house near downtown and Allentown, the Rue's interesting rooms, muted colors, cozy bar, intimate tables and lovely garden terrace are the stuff romantic dinners are made of. Recent menus have included appetizers of seared sea scallops with lime risotto and mango, lightly breaded veal sweetbreads with preserved lemon and marinated zucchini, and monkfish with roasted beets, ... read more
