I would describe Dr. Rowena Mercado’s approach as very impersonal and robotic. I was prescribed anxiety medication, and whenever I asked questions about how I was feeling, the only response I seemed to get was that the medication doesn’t help with those symptoms. This provider is arrogant and smug and is looking for “gotchas” with her patients (ways she can smugly tell them they’re lying or not telling the whole truth). She knows NOTHING about my history and yet she’d already obviously come to the conclusion that I was worthless within the first few minutes of our interaction.  Or maybe it isn’t me and she just assumes that everyone who isn’t lucky enough to be her is worthless. I have not met her, but I have seen the effect she has had on my sister. People like this should not be in the field of psychiatry. She was rude, arrogant, dehumanizing, unempathetic, robotic, inpatient, cold, irritated, and judgmental. Someone seeking mental health care should not be left depressed for days after dealing with a doctor. Please, see anyone else.
