In Gainesville for UF convocation... drove by, saw the sign, made U turn.. so glad I did. I had the California club, thought I would go with a safe choice. It was amazing, best sandwich I've ever had.. no lie. Let me just say... order something with bacon on it. Or a side of bacon. Mom loved the chicken salad salad.

The food was fresh and delicious. I had a fancy BLT which was fantastic. The decor is pleasant. I wanted the Waldorf salad too but it was either $11 or no salad. They should have more 1/2 and 1/2 items especially since its not cheap. The name is peculiar but am used to THE Root Cellar restaurant in that other Florida city.
Our favorite place for lunch!!! Can't wait to try the pizza.

We both had a meatball sub. My husband had a side of chips and I had the potato salad. The meatballs were VERY good. The potato salad was not. It was bland and dry. The chips were basically a handful of Lay's. The bread was fresh but very dense. The dining room is clean and bright, but LOUD. Our 2 sandwiches, a beer and a drink came to $39. I know everything is organic and locally sourced but this is too expensive. I will pay whatever if it is worth it, it wasn't. Everything was fresh and I had a great experience. The quinoa salad was great and so was the chicken salad sandwich. I plan to stop by for a smoothie in the near future!

Root and Pecker is the only place in Gainesville that we will eat our Pizza!! It is amazing, they support local farms, and is REAL food (a very rare find). Thank you so much Root and Pecker!
