Ron’s Roost has been family owned and operated since 1960. What started out as a 20 seat diner in 1960 has grown to a full service restaurant & bar that now seats 220 customers along with a separate carry out area & covered patio. Ron’s Roost is very proud to have been voted Cincinnati’s Best Fried Chicken(Cincinnati Enquirer) and also winner of the Best Dish at the annual Taste of Cincinnati. The Roost was very pleased to have Al Roker (Today Show Host) here to film an episode of Roker on the Road, featuri... read more

A germna, chicken restaurant and sports bar - mmmm good This icon restaurant in Western Hills is famous for so many things - the rooster on the top of the building, homemade Mock Turtle Soup, excellent friend chicken or its german cuisine of weiner schnitzel and sauerbruaten. Plus those great ham & beef double deckers. Ron's Roost was recently remodeled and added some sport's bar features but it is still very family friendly and delicious! Look for the daily Blue Plate Specials. PROS: excellent food CONS: may have to wait on... read more
Traditional restaurant Ron's Roost is a family restaurant that has been in busy for many years. They recently remodeled and have an area for take out orders to be picked up. The food is not for the most health conscience. They are known for their fried chicken and my Grandma's favorite, sauerbrauten. Be sure to sit far from the smoking section because they are not separated well.
L. Wright We trek across town for the fried chicken. Have always had excellent service, hot food and a good experience. It does seem that the chicken pieces have gotten much smaller and the prices have been raised. However, it's worth a 25 to 30 minute drive for the best chicken, cole slaw, hot slaw and turtle soup in town.
Alright place... We had dinner at Ron's Roost a few weeks ago, I just came across this site recently and thought I would add my comments as the existing ones seem to be either really positive or very negative. Anyway. The restaurant was not crowded and the service was acceptable. The meals we had were fine, nothing special at all about them but not bad either.
Always very good We have eaten there about once a month for the last year after some friends told us about the place. They have some of the best fried chicken and sides (hot slaw and cole slaw) I have ever had. Sometimes we get carry out, but most of the time we eat in and we have not had a bad experience. They do get packed on the weekends and you may have to wait, but it sure beats waiting at one of the chains. I really don't know who has better fried chicken in the Cincinnati area, and there is plenty to choose from even ... read more
not really worth the trip After reading these reviews I decided to give it a try. The service was poor and the food was only average at best. The atmosphere was confusing, is it a family restaurant or a sports bar? The other customers there were all senior citizens, but they have a large EMPTY bar in the middle of the place and tacky beer signs hanging in the windows???
...not the same place I have been going to Ron's Roost for years, however the past few times it just hasn't been the same. It appears they have a lot of new employees and the quality has therefore suffered. The chicken was always excellent, however now the pieces are much smaller and do not seem fresh. I am not sure if I will go back
neat place- good food Wow, after reading some of these reviews, I was pleasantly surprised. What we found was a clean, fairly new looking place. I loved the atmosphere and had a great meal (German Sauerbraten) my friend had Turkey & Dressing. I would recommend eating there to anyone who wants to try a new place. It's just a casual family restaurant with above average food. Some of these negative reviews must be from angry ex-employees because they just did'nt seem accurate to what we experienced.
Sauerbraten Chicken livers and mock turtle soup. ask for Nicole
Business response:
