We stopped by Ron Ebbesen Twin Arena a couple weeks ago while out sightseeing around Airdrie, and it's a solid community arena with plenty of free parking right out front. My husband and I wandered in to watch part of a youth hockey practice and the staff at the front desk were friendly and happy to point us toward the viewing area. Took the kids for a drag race event Sunday morning and the place was already buzzing by 9am, which made for great candid shots in the stands. The staff at the front desk were friendly and pointed me toward the upper level for better lighting and a clean view of both rinks. Parking was easy to find even with a tournament going on, which I always appreciate when hauling camera gear. Overall a clean, well run facility that gives you a lot to work with if you're into sports photography.
Went with a few buddies on Saturday afternoon for some public skating and the ice was in great shape, way smoother than I expected for a smaller town rink. Parking right out front was a nice surprise since we didn't have to hike from some overflow lot like at a lot of other arenas. The staff at the front desk were friendly and helped us sort out rentals fast so we weren't standing around waiting forever. Definitely the kind of low key spot we'll keep coming back to for weekend hangouts.
Stopped by the Ron Ebbesen Twin Arena a few days ago to grab some action shots during a late afternoon hockey practice session, and the lighting inside was actually way better than I expected for an indoor rink. The ice surface was in great condition and the boards gave me some clean reflections to work with for a few of the shots. Drove up from Calgary last weekend for a hockey tournament and was really impressed with how well-maintained the twin ice surfaces were. The zamboni had just finished a fresh cut right before our game and the ice quality was honestly some of the best I've skated on outside of a major city. Staff at the front desk were friendly and helped us figure out where to go without making us feel lost as out-of-towners.
