Dr. Shahani performed my triple bypass and value replacement, he is the most caring and kindest doctor I have ever encountered, he was there for me every step of the way, encouraging and reassuring me that I was doing well. Dr. Shahani performed triple bypass surgery on my father on October 16th, and we cannot say enough about our experience with him and the staff at Vassar Brothers Hospital. Dr. Shahani is clearly a skilled surgeon, but his caring and compassion is what truly sets him apart. He went out of his way time and again to speak to us, to ensure we were comfortable and that my father was doing well.
Dr Shahani performed an emergency aortic dissection surgery on me. It was a long procedure and I did not know about it until after the surgery. He saved my life! Afterwards he was patient answering my questions and those of my husband. I am so appreciative of his skill during the surgery and his gracious and compassionate attention while I was in recovery.

Dr Shahani was absolutely the best dr I have ever had. He has a very compassionate and personal relationship with his patients. I had open lung biopsies and had a chest tube put in. I was in the hospital for 4 days and he came everyday to check on me. Saturday they took the chest tube out and I was shocked that he came to make sure I was okay.
DR. Shahani not only brought incredible skill to my surgery (bypass), he followed up with daily personal attention afterward.
