I was first diagnosed with lupus at the age of 15, and he was the one who discovered what was wrong with me when no other doctor could figure it out. I’m 34 now—so yes, that was a long time ago—but I will always have deep respect for him. He always showed me tough love. As a young girl, I remember how honest he was with me—sometimes brutally so. While Dr. Rivas Chacón may be a knowledgeable rheumatologist, my experience with his office was extremely frustrating due to his staff. They were unprofessional, unhelpful, and made the entire process of scheduling and communication a nightmare. Unfortunately, their lack of efficiency and courtesy overshadowed any potential benefit of seeing this doctor, leading me to seek care elsewhere. I hope improvements are made, but based on my experience, I cannot recommend this practice.
Dr. Rivas-Chacon saved my daughter's life. She was 3 ½ years old and had seen multiple specialists without success. Dr. Rivas-Chacon was the only physician who diagnosed and confirmed her medical condition in less than two minutes. She was diagnosed with Juvenile Dermatomyositis, an autoimmune disease that could have taken her life! He treated it immediately and aggressively, and she is now living a normal life.
