I made the hour drive to Bakersfield for a Dr's appt which was scheduled prior to, for better or worse, I changed my healthcare provider. I wondered at the time whether having switched providers would impact my scheduled appt. Well, it did. The intake nurse told me I needed to get pre-authorization from my new provider as the coverage went into effect on Jan 1. I thought I had wasted the drive, which I do not like as the drive thru the canyon can be dangerous. Bottom line, I needed to call blah, blah blah and get approval. Now the appt was a followup for my Hep C (as I posted earlier I am now Hep C free) which was going to take less than 5 minutes. Okay fine. "Can I use the restroom?". "Sure, here's the key." On my way I see the Dr and he sees me so I ask whether he could look at my latest labs and reschedule in the future. There was no one in the waiting room and he was not busy at the time. This fine man took care of me knowing he would not be reimbursed for the visit.
His name is Navin Amin, Rio Bravo Medical Group, and he has treated me better than most doctors I may have seen in the past. #ExtremelyGrateful.
