After close to three decades of catering to the sweet cravings of young and old, Rick's Dessert Diner didn't close despite much competition. They certainly have a big selection, but the desserts aren't always as good as they look. We've had soggy canolli, and some fillings taste fake. Mostly ok, but go for the ambience and selection. There are much better desserts in Sacramento if you're serious.
Ricks is The Place to visit after the show. Don't let the line discourage you - they are lightning fast. You can have pie, cake, ice cream, Italian soda, lemon bars, etc.; the choices of their delicious desserts are legion. Best place to do people-watching. Those in the line Saturday were coming from Prom, the Convention Center, and celebrating birthdays with friends. They could use a full-time table busser - we washes our own table before sitting down.
