Best psychiatrist I ever had! Was a patient of his for years. Wish they were still based out of the east coast.
Dr. Altesman is patient and thorough and will work strategically with you to find the correct medication and dosage for your condition. I would recommend him without hesitation. Scheduling appointments can be a nightmare, though, as he's always super booked out.
My wife suggested seeing a psychiatrist for depression but I don't have depression! So I thought! I completed the forms and Dr. Altesman reviewed my symptoms. He was very frank and honest with me. First, after reviewing my family history, we tried stimulant medication and voilà, I'm on point, but still sad... Then, an SSRI. Better than voilà - a miracle! My marriage is so much better I can't be more pleased! Thanks Pac Psychiatry!
I have had three telemedicine appointments with Dr. Altesman. His office staff, especially Kathy, even months before my referral, helped me by advising me on navigating the insurance maze. Dr. Altesman himself has been caring, reasonable, and very knowledgeable. I especially appreciate that he listens carefully to my lived experience with my disorder and takes my opinions and circumstances into account when prescribing. Horrible, saw him for about 6 months three years ago for depression/anxiety and he made my situation worse. I don't know why this guy even became a doctor because he clearly isn't invested at all in helping people in any way and just gets some sort of enjoyment out of having control over vulnerable people. I've met 3 people over the last 2 years who've also seen this guy and they said they had a similar experience, which prompted me to write this review.
I had dismissed all negative comments erroneously, chalking it up to a bad day/experience for individuals writing a review. My first appointment I was witness to his belittling nature to the receptionist for not having the routine questionare filled out. ( poor guy was new and could not locate the form). His attitude inhibits collaboration and partnership negating therapeutic efficacy. I found him to be self absorbed, condescending and arrogant. Not all doctors are a good fit. This doctor is a jerk. He actually laughed at something I shared with him, is condescending and patronizing. Find a dr who cares, this guy is just a pill pusher.
I am very happy to have found Dr. Altesman. He shows great compassion and always has a great story to tell. He gives you 100%.
Dr. Altesman has been my doctor for 1-1/2 years and I have not had a more professional attentive physician for my care prior to him. He is very thorough in how he approaches my care. He is concerned about my overall health, interaction of my medications and my overall well bearing. I would recommend Dr. Altesman to my friends and family members without any reservations.
