Only the 2nd worst – Wow people! You are really missing out, if you think this is good mexican food. First of all the chips were really stale and from a bag. My husand said they tasted like cardboard. The salsa was very runny with the only flavor resembeling something fishy. The taquitos were very oily and small. Everything I tasted was lacking in flavor. Somebody else wrote in their review that they envied the people accross the street coming out of Taco Bell, and I'll have to second that. But we did get a good laugh about ... read more
If you're from CO, TX or NM - Stay Away! – Yikes! After reading the reviews I decided I'd give it a try. Chili Verde - means "green chili" - correct? It was boiled pork stew. Even Stokes out of the can is better than what they serve. I asked for a bowl of green chilis and was given a look like a deer in the head lights. All I could get was a bowl of sliced pickled jalapenos; and even they had no heat. The tortillas were rubber, the salsa was sweet, and the chips were thick and greasy. If you are from Colorado, Texas, or New ... read more
just okay – My husband and I recently moved from Orange County and he has been homesick for his mom's cooking. Well a friend at work LOVES this place and so we went to try it out because its really close to our home. It was okay. Kinda bland, but good size portions, decent price. The service was EXCELLENT though. Our waitress was always there with a refill on our drinks (which is awesome in the middle of the day during the summer). The parking is kinda scarce. I think we'll continue on our search for more authentic "like mom... read more
best mexican in town – Morelia's is hands down the BEST Mexican food in town. There salsa is delicious!!! Prices are great! If you want fresh authentic Mexican food go to Morelia's. The owner David is in the kitchen cooking every night ensuring that the best food is served! Sometime there is a slight wait but completely worth it!!!
The Real Truth!! – Taco Bell was across the street and throughout the meal I couldn't help but think how lucky all the people were that were walking into Taco Bell. Restaurant is in what looks like an old IHOP. Food tastes like it was out of a can! Who uses beets for garnish?!!!
Great, cheap Mexican food! – I have been going to Restaurant Morelia for years. It continues to be my favorite for homestyle (like my mom's cooking) Mexican food. I love that it is always served up hot. The servers are always polite. They don't change servers very often so they must be great to work for. I don't care what color or age they are, it's the service that counts. The cooks are always the same, so the food is always consistent. My favorites are chile rellenos, chile verde burritos, rice and beans. My kids love it t... read more
Average service, Average food – I was surprised at all of the positive reviews. The prices are great although the cheap lunch menu is very small. There was so much cheese melted on the plate it could choke a horse. The biggest complaint I have is the cold, hard chips that appear to have been a deal at Sam's club. There is nothing authentic about chips that are not homemade and not warm. Although we had a native, attentive waitress there were middle-aged white women waitressing. Where is there a Mexican restaurant in SLC that... read more
Best in Town – This place is the absolute best Mexican restaurant in town. The chili verde is too die for!! The service is always fast and friendly. The prices are very, very reasonable. Everything on the menu is excellent - I've just about tried it all. The fresh salsa is wonderful! I just can't say enough great things about this place. I recommend this palce to everyone!!!
A favorite place to eat for years – The open kitchen where patrons are welcome to say "Hi" and "Thanks" to the cooks is great. The food is very mexican (although cheddar cheese is used for nearly all of the dishes) and tastes great. The prices are inexpensive and the staff is friendly. The parking lot is small and there isn't much available on the street, but just north on State Street is a large parking lot (don't park at the floral shop!). The seating is comfortable although it is loud when the restaurant is full (almost a... read more
