I love Alma, both the restaurant and the café. I mostly go to the café but have been to the restaurant a handful of times. I've been to the café 3 times in a week, mostly because I stock up on their chocolate chip cookies. Their croissants are so buttery and flaky and the savory cheese and chive scone is my go to with a hot chocolate. Even my son, who says he's tired of chocolate croissants, will eat theirs.
Might I suggest when an outside lunch patron asks for silverware, the server brings it rather than pointing to its location? $40 bucks for a salad and a small sandwich and the server can’t also bring the flatware? We have always been fond of Alma. This seems like poor training and zero hospitality.
Updated for private event rental: We booked the cafe side of Alma for a private dinner to host a Celebration of Life with about 20 guests. I had a great experience from booking to execution. James, the event coordinator, was incredibly helpful and attentive during our planning. Quick to answer questions and unflappable in the face of last minute requests. My favorite dining experience in the Twin Cities yet! Closest to European style fine dine, this just made me happy and feel right at home. Great service and great atmosphere. Not often do I encounter Umbrian wines in Minnesota, and even less so Passito (dessert wine) - a detail underscoring an eye for tasteful gems. We will definately be back!
The food, wine pairing & service were all fantastic! I took my mom to Alma for her birthday and we had a lovely time. Rosie was our server and made the evening extra special for us!
