Worst Marriott Experience I've Ever Had As a Platinum Elite member, I've stayed at many Marriott properties over the years, which makes this one-night stay at the Residence Inn by Marriott Austin-University Area especially disappointing. It was, without question, the worst Marriott experience I've had. Our week long stay at this location was unfortunately quite disappointing. While there are a few positives like ample parking and a 24/7 staffed front desk that adds a solid layer of security so not just anyone can walk in, the overall experience fell short of expectations. Especially since the prices are very high. The rooms themselves are just okay and nothing special, but the biggest issue right now is the major renovation project taking place throughout the property. As a Marriott Titanium Elite member who has stayed at Marriott properties countless times for business, this was one of the most disappointing stays I have experienced with the brand. The property is undergoing significant renovations. On my first day, the air conditioning in my room was malfunctioning. My room was missing washcloths and coffee; when I requested them, I was told they would be sent up, but they never arrived.
