I purchased a single-family home in Renn Quater by D R Horton in Frederick, Maryland (within city limits). While the neighborhood is nice overall, I’ve had a very disappointing experience with the HOA’s fencing policy, poor construction and poor warranty support. Unlike surrounding communities—where single-family homes are allowed to have covered (privacy) fencing—This community does not allow covered fencing for single-family homes. Do not buy those homes. They are poorly made and everything will breakdown within a year. Worst you will enter in a loan agreement with them if you get your house financed by D.R.Horton, they will transfer your loan to a third party in my case Freedom Mortgage. Freedom mortgage would refuse to do their jobs in the beginning and then raise you mortgage payments by $300.
** Writing this after multiple attempts to reach out DR Horton *** 0 Stars - Repeated structural issue ignored – poor build quality and zero accountability. 1. Ceiling Crack – Ongoing Structural Concern - Large ceiling crack runs across the kitchen from one end of the house to the other. Home inspection (prior to warranty expiration) indicated this is not a typical drywall or settling crack. - Site supervisor inspected and performed a repair. Crack reappeared within 6 months, and no further action taken since warranty expire... read more
Beautiful and spacious community, with a variety of floor plans. Good location, just outside of downtown Frederick. Nice neighborhood!
